The L.A. Women of Coldwater

Don't you dare love them madly...

After taking a few weeks off the most recent updates to The Coldwater Diaries (both Volumes One and Two) are told through our female characters – specifically Sonya and Rachael – and although from separate volumes, readers are presented subtle hints as to not only where our story may be heading, but their significance as characters relating to “real life” as well.

When I first began The Coldwater Diaries way-back-when (specifically Volume One) readers presented a consistent criticism challenging me (as a writer) to explore new boundaries… the consensus was no matter how different my female characters seemed to me (as the writer) my readers felt compeled to bring to my attention how similar my female characters were to my males. Obviously this wasn’t my intention.

Sometime later and knee deep into the conclusion of my tale, I’m confident in my growth as a writer in presenting each of my female characters as unique to one another… and this is (and has been from the beginning) an extremely important factor in the overall storytelling of The Coldwater Diaries – no matter the volume in question.

Sonya, Rachael, & Lauren each has their own purpose in moving the story forward – not only for their individual arcs, but for our male characters as well. And no matter if you’re reading the already completed Volume Two or checking in on the on-the-fly entries of Volume Three, I’m confident enough that the reader will not only notice a significant difference from the writing in Volume One, but at the same time be able to discern the roles each of these gals play in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve been lackadaisical of late in terms of updating The Coldwater Diaries – especially being as (at least with Volume Two) all the work is already finished – but that isn’t to say I haven’t been working on the project.

As previously mentioned in past notes to readers the Third Volume of this tale will be told in Three Acts. The conclusion of the First Act of Volume One is what I’m working on currently. Once posted and in the books the story will pretty much write itself.

I just wanted to take time out to inform my readers that the women of The Coldwater Diaries (despite my male characters posing as the driving force of Coldwater) will without a doubt end up the true heroes, catalysts’, and accelerants of the overall tale when all is said and done.

That said, keep reading and checking for updates and keep in mind no matter how vile and chauvinistic I (and my characters may seem) each possesses their own unique voice, characteristics, and direction so important to the story, without them, I’d have never wasted so much of my life bringing them to life.

Keep with it and keep the emails coming. We’re just about there…
